	Toronto Nationals (soccer) The Toronto Nationals were a Canadian professional soccer team in Toronto, Ontario that competed in the original Canadian Professional Soccer League in 1983. They folded mid-way through the season and were immediately replaced by a successor team known as simply Toronto, which also folded after one game, a week later. History Their first match was played on May 21, which was the first game of the CPSL, in which they defeated FC Inter-Montréal by a score of 2-1 at Varsity Stadium, with a crowd of 3,860. However, only five weeks into the season, on June 18, the team folded, however, the league announced that new owners would take over the club and form a new replacement franchise, known simply as Toronto on June 20. On June 26, the reformed club faced the Hamilton Steelers, losing 3-2, but the new Toronto team folded immediately after this match, ending the franchise for good after new financial backers could not be found. They were a part of the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League and the Metro Junior B Hockey League. Jr. A Nationals In 1975, the Nationals won their one and only Junior "A" league title. 	Hamilton Nationals The Hamilton Nationals were a Major League Lacrosse (MLL) professional men's field lacrosse team based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They began play in the 2009 season in Toronto, Ontario as the Toronto Nationals, becoming the first-ever Canadian MLL team. In 2009, they played their home games at BMO Field, which is also home to Major League Soccer's Toronto FC but moved to the smaller Lamport Stadium for the 2010 season. On February 3, 2011, the Nationals announced that they were relocating to Hamilton, Ontario, and would play their home games at Ron Joyce Stadium on the campus of McMaster University. Each team featured four local Canadian cricketers in each squad, along with international players. The inaugural tournament in 2018 took place at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club in King City, Ontario, while the 2019 tournament took place at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario. Bombay Sports Limited are the owners of the league, and also the organizers of the Euro T20 Slam that was set to begin on August 30, 2019. History The International Cricket Council (ICC) sanctioned the tournament in February 2018, and it is the first fully sanctioned T20 league in North America outside of the Caribbean.
